Why Use Stabilized Wood?

Wood, by its very nature is porous and susceptible to moisture and changes in the climate. It will expand and contract with temperature changes as well as shrink or swell with changes in humidity. Not the sort of issues you want to deal with on a fine handmade knife or pen where tolerances within thousandths of an inch are often the standard.

These problems are eliminated when you choose one of our fine, stabilized, exotic knife handle blocks, scales, or pen blanks for the finishing touch on your next project. The stabilization process transforms the wood into a wood/polymer hybrid making it extremely resistant to the elements and environmental changes.
